Electronic Submissions
Postdeadline submissions are now being accepted for the 2009 OFC/NFOEC Conference.

The deadline for submitting a postdeadline paper is March 11, 2009, 12:00 p.m. noon EDT (16.00 GMT). You will be unable to edit your postdeadline submission past this time.
Questions regarding the paper submission and review process can be directed to the Technical Papers Staff at cstech@osa.org at any time.
Paper Preparation and Submission Method
Papers must be submitted via the OASIS online submission system in PDF format in adherence with the style guide. Do NOT email, fax or mail your paper!
Requirements
A completed electronic submission is due prior to the published deadline. A complete submission will include the following:
Adherence to the instructions for preparation of the abstract and summary is imperative. NO CHANGES OR REVISIONS WILL BE ALLOWED AFTER THE DEADLINE. Emailed or faxed submissions will not be accommodated. Failure to complete any of the preceding requirements may result in rejection of a paper. Registration and submission for technical sessions is open to all members of the scientific and technical community. It is incumbent on the authors to obtain appropriate approval to present their work to this international forum.
Peer Review
OFC/NFOEC submissions are high-quality technical papers that undergo a peer-review conducted by the members of the Technical Program Committee. If the paper is accepted, the summary will be reproduced directly from the material submitted by the author(s) and published in the Technical Digest, which will be distributed on-site to all technical registrants.

Style Guide
This style guide is a reference for all submitting authors and has remained consistent to past year's format and style.
You will need Adobe Acrobat to download this file. If you don't have this software yet, you may download it for free at the Adobe website.
Requirements
35-word Abstract: The 35-word abstract should be a brief summary of the paper topic. This is a very strict word limit: DO NOT EXCEED 35 words! If the paper is accepted, this abstract will be included in the Conference Program.
Summary: All authors are required to submit a final summary of their work for publication in the Technical Digest. The page limit for all authors (OFC and NFOEC) is 3 pages. The style guide provides a visual representation of the paper format. The summary must be typed with the page layout set to 8 ½" x 11" page, and with 1-inch margins on all sides. Within 3-pages, the author must include all text, including the 35-word abstract, title, authors, equations, drawings, tables, photographs, figures and references. The text may be typed either single or double spaced. No columns, please.
The title of the talk and the primary author's name, affiliation, address, telephone and fax numbers, and email address must appear on the first page with all additional authors and their affiliations. The 35-word abstract should be repeated in the summary. Refrain from the use of asterisks, acknowledgments, job descriptions or footnotes. Cite references at the end of the summary.
IMPORTANT! Please embed all fonts and use standard fonts when possible. Problems may occur if non-English font packages (for example, Japanese, Korean or Chinese fonts, etc.) are used in the body of your paper summary, as well as in all figures and tables. Characters in these fonts cannot be seen by reviewers. In the past, we have had particular trouble with MS-PGothic, MS -Gothic and MS-Mincho.
All accepted submissions will be converted to PDF format for the production of the Technical Digest. OFC/NFOEC management strongly encourages the submission of PDF files to protect the integrity of your work. Do not place any form of PDF security on your files as this may delay or impede the review and publication of your work. Native LaTex files are not readable by OFC/NFOEC staff. Convert all LaTex files to PDF before submitting.
***Proof your work before submitting. We DO NOT ACCEPT CHANGES OR REVISIONS AFTER THE SUBMISSION DEADLINE .***
Category selection: You will be asked to choose a sub-category within one of the ten OFC or two NFOEC main categories. Category descriptions can be found on the Topic Categories page.
Copyright Agreement: The submission system incorporates an electronic copyright transfer agreement as part of your submission. No additional mailed documentation is required.
OCIS Codes: As part of the submission process, authors will be asked to indicate two optics keywords that best characterize their papers. A list of OCIS codes can be found here: www.opticsinfobase.org/submit/ocis/
Presentation Preference: The options for this conference are Oral Only, Oral Preferred, Poster Only or Poster Preferred. Choosing one of the “Only” options indicates that you would rather be rejected than accept the alternate presentation type. The OFC/NFOEC Program Committee has the final say on presentation types, though every effort is made to honor an author’s choice.
